Clair Obscur Gallery is pleased to present the first solo exhibition of Los Angeles photographer Jeffery Scott (1019). This exhibition will explore the last two years of his career including a brand new series of work specifically created for this exhibition.
In the last twenty years, his artistic life revolved around painting, sculpting, and production design for music videos, television commercials and motion pictures. In an effort to produce a more exacting science behind his artistic vision, photography became the chosen medium for _expression without comprises. It wasnt until November 2002 that Jeffery Scott made the switch from sculpting and painting to photography full time.
His first series explores this change and illustrates his transformation into a more complete art. In December 2003 Jeffery Scott began developing his second series. The photographs represent an average of fifty hours of meticulous work in which heavily layered imagery constructs the whole, creating complex environments, settings and landscapes. The photos can be looked at as layers upon layers of information communicating, to the viewer, a series of in-depth philosophies, concepts and stories. Thought provoking titles also aid in this communication, drawing the viewer even deeper into the artists emotive and contemplative realms.
In August 2003 Jeffery Scott had his first exhibition in a gallery in Pasadena, CA. By the end of 2003, Jeffery Scott was in three major exhibitions including a group exhibition at Soho Gallery in Studio City , CA.
